WHEREAS Daggett County has significant acreage of public lands within its jurisdictional boundaries that are managed by the federal government; and
WHEREAS the Daggett County Planning Commission has advisory power to the Daggett County Commission to recommend changes to ordinances, general plans, and resource management plans; and
WHEREAS federal land management agencies have undertaken systemic processes to reduce access to public lands throughout the State of Utah by means of travel management planning; and
WHEREAS the Federal Land Policy and Management Act and the National Forest Management Act require federal land management agencies to coordinate with and achieve consistency to local government resource management plans; and
WHEREAS the Daggett County planning commission desires to address the shortcomings and errors of the federal land management agencies’ travel planning processes
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Planning Commission of Daggett County, State of Utah that:
1. We recommend to the Daggett County Commission that the following text be added to Chapter 8 of Daggett County’s General Plan, which is Daggett County’s resource management plan.
2. The recommended text is found on pages 73 and 74 in red font color to the document that is attached to this resolution
