Update on Well and Watering Situation

Dear Residents:

First of all, thank you for your continued patience regarding our well and watering situation. We have been informed that the well casing has developed a hole, which is allowing sand to enter the well. While we worked feverishly with Widdison Well Services to get it up and running prior to Memorial Day, they discovered there is a hole in the casing. However, not all is lost. It can be patched. We have found a company, Longmire Swaging, that can repair the hole. The Town was faced with putting the well back together, and "maybe" it will stay operational or get the hole repaired. We opted to get it repaired once and for all. The downside is that the company cannot be here until May 28th We anticipate it will be up and  operational by May 30th We have contacted Tri-County Health Department, and they are willing to do an emergency test to make sure the water is good. Please understand that this is not a water crisis. We have sufficient water to meet daily household needs and maintain normal operations. However, we like to ask that you refrain from watering lawns, gardens, flowers, and other nonessential outdoor areas at this time. "Mother Nature" has been kind enough to drop off some wet weather, and we are appreciative. If you would please continue to conserve water, we will get through this short- term inconvenience. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the Town Office at 435-784-3143 or Public Works at 435-778-0038.

Kind Regards, Mayor Kathi
