The Board is working on a Strategic Plan. This is an opportunity for community involvement.
1. Student Safety
We give your children prevention training about each of these issues: Bullying, Internet, Suicide, Sexual Abuse, Drugs/Alcohol. Mental Health We are providing many mental health services for students. Suggestions?
2. School Security
New legislation requires: single entrance schools; bullet resistant windows; security cameras; wearable panic buttons; a person in each school who has a concealed weapon, who is trained to use it; schoolyard fencing; etc. What are your concerns? Do you feel your children are safe at school?
3. Bond
The current Bond will be paid off in 5 more years. Part of the Strategic Plan is a Building Plan. We have issues with buildings meeting current seismic standards. What else should the Board be considering?
4. Early Learning Emphasis
Daycare, Pre-School, Pre-Kindergarten, All-Day Kindergarten, more diagnostic tools, faster intervention. What else would you suggest?
5. Manila HS Curriculum
Are we giving your students enough guidance regarding HS Courses, College Applications, FAFSA, and Scholarships? Concurrent Enrollment Your kids can earn college credit for “free”. CTE Emphasis CTE pathway completion. Future Farmers of America (FFA), Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), and a new program this Fall—Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA).
6. Sensitive Materials
Are you aware of any school resources that could be considered “inappropriate”?
